Evolver

I've been working on an idea for a new zine that I think could be pretty cool. There may actually be two - one that's just my work (paintings, photography, collage, etc.) and the other will be a collaborative effort. Still lots to do before it sees the light of day, but confidence is high. Subscribe to my newsletter below to stay in the loop.

Book

Photography by the letter

With a visual style inspired by vintage camera manuals, Photography by the Letter is more than 300 pages of terms, photos, diagrams, tips, exercises and interviews — perfect for the photographic beginner or the seasoned pro.

“It is really quite beautifully designed and very well printed. I honestly cannot think of a self-published book that I have seen better production values on. Nicely done!”
– Ted Waitt, Publisher, Rocky Nook

Iterations

In Iterations, my "mostly weekly" newsletter, I share stories and offer suggestions and strategies (my own and from others) for how to work through the challenges around creating and releasing what we make into the world. I also provide occasional links to things I've come across and find interesting enough to share.

Cell Damage

I'm playing with perspective, scale, and depth and exploring what happens when I drill down further and further into the textures of some of my previous bodies of work.

Type: Cradled Panel | Size: 8x8 in. and 12x12 in.| Materials: Acrylics, gel medium, vintage magazines and newspapers.

Note: Colors and details may appear slightly different in person due to variations in monitor calibration and image compression.

I’m donating a portion of the net proceeds generated by my creative work to arts education and non-profit organizations that focus on the arts.

The New Propaganda

I’ve always been fascinated by propaganda—both the historical images created by the artists of the 20s, 30s, and 40s to the more modern work of artists like Shepard Fairey. Regardless of when in history it appears, using art to further political causes and ideologies can be an incredibly powerful tool when it works. In this series, I am attempting to continue that tradition and use elements of propaganda—dramatic imagery, saturate colors, and bold typography—to explore graphic design, color, and composition while also trying to communicate larger messages and ideas.

Grid Variations, v1

The 36 pieces in Grid Variations, vol.1 (12 of which are shown here) are an attempt to apply the same techniques and materials I use in my narrative pieces, such as The New Propaganda, to create a body of work that eschews any sense of story and is instead just an evolving exploration of texture and color bound to a grid. If you'd like to see more work like this, check out Grid Variations, vol. 2.

Grid Variations, v2

Grid Variations, vol.2 is an evolution of Grid Variations, vol. 1. The 36 pieces in the collection (12 of which are shown here) expand on the color palette and textures used in vol. 1, but still manage to remain aesthetically cohesive. Panels may be rotated, grouped, and arranged to create nearly limitless display combinations.
